METS NOTES:

  • The Mets, who went 9-6 against the AL last year, are batting .218 with six runs during the slide after averaging 6.2 runs and batting .312 in winning 11 of the previous 13.
  • The two-time Cy Young Award winner, however, is coming off his worst performance of the season. He allowed season highs of six runs — four earned — and 11 hits while striking out seven in seven innings as the Mets (21-19)won 9-6 at San Francisco on Saturday.
  • That’s also the last time New York won, as the club has dropped a season high-tying four games in a row after falling 2-1 at Los Angeles on Wednesday

RED SOX TEAM NOTES:

  • The Red Sox went 11-7 in interleague play last season, including six wins in nine games at Fenway. They’re 10-8 all-time against the Mets (21-19), sweeping a three-game series in the last meeting June 27-29, 2006.
  • The Red Sox (25-16) completed a three-game series sweep of East-leading Toronto on Wednesday with a 5-1 victory. That winning streak has put them one-half game behind the Blue Jays for first place.
  • Boston is expected to activate Matsuzaka (0-1, 12.79 ERA) from the disabled list in order for him to make his first start against the Mets. The right-hander has been on the DL with right arm fatigue since April 15, one day after he was tagged for five runs and five hits in one inning of a 6-5, 12-inning loss at Oakland.

  1. did you guys notice the $160+ seats in the bleachers have “obstructed views”. I just saw them all stand up to look at the ball hit to the LF corner. They’ve got to rebuild the stadium.

  2. FYI the beautiful blond in shot briefly behind DWright as he caught that pop up was Heidi Watney, the Red Sox equivalent of Kevin Burkhardt.

  3. Look at that line. 2 errors thru 4 innings. That is just not going to get it done.

Right now, our starting pitching is pretty good, our BP just about the best in the NL. Everything else? Overall offense, defense – not so much.
And yeah, I know some is due to injuries but truthfully, even before the injuries the defense and mental mistakes were happening on a regular basis. They have got to get series here on better defense.

        1. You mean, let me understand this cause, ya know maybe it’s me, I’m a little fucked up maybe, but I’m funny how, I mean funny like I’m a clown, I amuse you? I make you laugh, I’m here to fuckin’ amuse you? What do you mean funny, funny how? How am I funny?

  4. And is it just me? Taking a bit longer to post now than it was at the beginning of the thread. Just curious.

  5. What an unreal bunch of BULL! His arms were hanging over the plate, and how many did Dice-K throw even more inside to Wright?

  6. How old is this Masterson? He looks about 14. Man, I’m getting old. LOL.

This Boston BP is pretty good, huh? So 4 runs will be it for us?
No, come on. Score early, score late…

  7. This is just getting painful to watch. Two errors now for Ramon.
This can’t continue. This just cannot. Can we please get someone who can play SS?

  8. Now, get this third out. Oh, and Johan? Can you pitch your magic and make sure the ball is not hit anywhere near SS??????

  9. I swear, Johan is practically carrying this team on his own with some help from Wright and Beltran. He is absolutely worth every penny they gave him and then some.
I would have added KRod in there but hey, we haven’t seen him in 4 days….

And Holy God – Ramon almost blew that throw too.

    1. I really think that if Martinez had, Johan would have attacked him right there on the field at Fenway….

  10. Man, Martinez is horrible at Defense. He is lucky he got that hit today. I cant believe this guy, he is going to cost us the game

    1. LOL! I heard that….Gary is great in pretty much all ways an announcer can be.

Did you hear his comment on the Super Bowl 2 years ago? He hates both the Patriots and the Giants, so he just hoped it would be a good game!

  11. OK, anyone think that either Jerry or Omar paid off Ramon for different reasons.
Jerry “OK Ramon, you are my age and can’t really play anymore, we are in a race and need a better player. You do want to win a championship right? Do you want that blamed on you? Ok here’s what you do, commit 17 erorrs for Johan tonight. Omar will be forced to bring someone in”

Omar “Listen, I don’t like disrespecting my elders, but we really need a better solution at SS than you. I am going to have to pay out the ass for a decent player. The Mets fans are never going to let me live it down if I trade good young talent for these below average replacements. You do want to win a championship right? Do you want that blamed on you? Ok here’s what you do, commit 17 erorrs for Johan tonight. Then I can trade who ever the hell I want and they won’t mind”

    1. hahahaha – and that’s why you’re one of our authors on this site. Too clever….

      O.K. Pagan. THAT’s what I’m talking about….

  12. Gary is right. We dont need that crap on the field. Does this push Omar to pick up that phone some more?

      1. Damn, I wanted him like Case wanted Tex! Would those numbers look good in LF for us right now or what??

    1. he would’ve been on the DL if he signed w/ the Mets. So goes the life of a Mets fan. Gotta Love It!

  13. Grandpa Ibanez w/ 16 homeruns. Yanks not helping losing 7-1. Saw Gina over at the amazingavenue game thread.

      1. nah, I just saw that she commented early in the game but hasn’t for a while, so I’m not sure she’s still there. Plus, you have to register to comment there.

        1. I have a login over on amazin avenue. I’ll take a look and if I see ‘Gina’ comment again, I’ll give a shout out.

      1. The way the Yankee’s have been playing, nothing is impossible. See they have had the advantage with that new joke of a stadium. What they did not realize is now they are playing the creators of the joke stadium.

  14. I wonder if Ortiz was a PED guy, or if he just is overweight and out of shape and declining at record speed….

      1. Thanks. But now – I gotta get back to my blog, and do some tweeting – no offense but I’m not going to mention to my twittering friends that I was over here). I’m impressed with what you guys have done. Really I am. I’m stuck guys. I’m really stuck. I don’t get to call my own shots like I used to. Have to answer to a lot of peole now. Have a good nite and keep up the good work. And oh yeah, Let’s Go Mets. C’mon KRod!

  15. HRs for Tex AND Ibanez!!

What the hell is next, a no-hitter for Lowe?? A Heilman save?? OK, that is going too far….

    1. gotta love the atmosphere there, it’s jumping off of the tv

especially the back and forth between the fans

      1. Absolutely great place to see a game. And as Gary said, Boston is an amazing city to walk all over….

  16. 100 MPH. Wow. I don’t want to see Parnell on the trading block for anyone. As much as I hate this, I’d rather see Putz go if it’s between those two.

  17. Seriously, does the emergence of Parnell make Putz MORE tradeable IF come deadline things are still going the same?

    1. yes, and if Putz can get better, we can get more in return. Plenty of teams out there with garbage closers

      1. But I just don’t see who else we have that could get us something. Putz has more trade value than say Church. Can’t trade Murphy unless we’re getting back an infielder who can play first.

I don’t want to see him go either though. Especially after suffering through that God awful BP we had last year and seeing how much better it is this year.
