Add Carlos Beltran to that list as well.  I would assume he would be playing in CF if the DH were not available.  That’s some list.

Can ANYONE Play This Game?

TILT?

This season the Mets have been accused of not being clutch, gritty, having heart, balls, you name it.  When actually it’s ONE spot in the order separating us from the elite.  So you want the Mets to win?  Find us a 6 hitter.  Maybe DeRosa is the answer, Nick Johnson, who knows.  But if this is our #6 hitter and Wright is our #5, Wright may be treated like Bonds on his Mega Man Pills.

What’s on your mind?

Alpha and Omega

With Johan and Krod on this team, are we witnessing history as Mets fans?

When was the last time we had a dominant SP and Closer in the same season?

Lets take a look:

2009:

Johan: 1.50 ERA  Go to fullsize imageKrod: 0.87 ERA   Go to fullsize image

1990:

McDowell: 2.63 ERA 16 saves Go to fullsize imageMyers: 1.72 ERA 26 saves Go to fullsize image

1986:

Really a combination of starters doing very well as well as bullpen.  No one was clearly better in the rotation or pen.

In my opinion you the 1969 season was the most dominant season by a combination 1 SP and 1 CL.  Will we see history this year?  All I can say that there is no doubt that right now I feel more comfortable in these two pitchers than any two in my Mets fan-hood.  To that, I say thank you to Omar.  You may screw a lot up, but you got that one right.

Line’em up boys.

abbotcostello

Who the hell’s on 1st, 2nd, SS, LF, C and uh DH (screw the AL)?

So with this weekend being the start of dreaded inter-league AND with the fact that Reed and Martinez have gotten starts even WITHOUT the DH, how should the lineup look?  And yes Livan as DH is an option over Ramon.

ManuelWarning:  Nothing we post will matter nor be right because Jerry the tinker Manuel will solve all.
