Over at Mlbtraderumors.com they are discussing Nick Johnson’s availability. Looks like he may be a hotter name that we thought.
According to John Heyman over at SI.com the Indians have DeRosa on the block already. He thinks the Met’s are interested, however have Nick Johnson and Aubrey Huff ahead of him.
While DeRosa is versatile, do we need another jack of all trades or someone who actually plays 1B or LF everyday?
Those of you who are guest from Metsblog, you do still need to do a new registration. There seems to be a difference in wordpress.com and wordpress.org that Matt uses.
Also, again this is OUR site. If you would like to see any changes or even become a writer yourself please let me know.
“Gangstas in the field…Ladies on the bus”
One of the many quotes jerry Manuel used to reel us in after we have suffered the types of years that nobody could have imagined in this age. The mets these days have lost their annual (it seems) key component to a season that seemed destined for retribution. While I still have faith we can still accomplish our goal, the mets will have to adopt a different image and have to play a different type of game to do a lost art it seems these days…”manufacture runs”. People often wonder why the Philadelphia Phillies have so much success without having really any big names to their club. The answer is very simple…role players. The Phillies have mastered the art of getting the most out of average players such as victorino (feel free to vomit), werth, dobbs and Pedro feliz. I believe the mets have to modify their strategy to incorporate role players to surround what is left from a power driven core. In short…Manuel needs to let these ladies off the bus and give them their “G” back.
This is not good for me or anyone around me. Staying up to 1:00 AM and having to get up at 5:30? All to see Ryan Broken Confidence Church and Ramon I wish I was the Pitcher Martinez bat 5th and 6th? WHY?
So what do we wake up to this morning? All the geniuses in the sports world commenting on the Met’s power outage. Well lets see
Reyes, Murphy, Beltran, Wright, Church, Ramon Friggin Martinez, Jeremy Friggin Reed, Santos, Maine.
Yup, I wonder why there is no power production? Come on. Did anyone notice that Beltran and Wright were never really pitched to with men on base? Duh.
Assuming that you don’t enjoy seeing Reed trot out there every night at 1B when we are supposed to be competitive, what should the Met’s do to solve this issue?
There are some obvious directions the Mets could go.
1) Go with what we have and put Tatis at 1B, Sheff in LF and Church in RF. Murphy either stays to be the primary sub or goes back to AAA to learn ANY position.
2) Sign a scrub that did not get picked up like Richie Sexson. I don’t know if he has been working out or not.
3) Trade for a lower level or cheap 1B option like Nick Johnson, Aubrey Huff or Chad Tracy.
4) Trade for an upper level 1B like Victor Martinez.
5) Solve LF and let Tatis play 1B full-time.
What do you guys think?
